Description
En los albores del siglo xx, por oposición al historicismo dominante, el ingeniero, pintor y arquitec-to Peder Vilhelm Jensen-Klint (1853-1930) funda en Copenhague la denominada Bygmesterskolen en 1911. Esta escuela sería el emblema de unmovimiento que asume la consideración material, la práctica artesanal y la responsabilidad social como sus principios. Este experimento social, cultural y económico emerge de la arquitectura tradicional con el objetivo de originar una nueva arquitectura que aspiraba a recuperar la naturaleza de la tradición artesanal y con ello devolver la arquitectura a la gente. El interés en la forma escultórica y en el equili-brio de las texturas cristaliza en el proyecto para un monumento nacional en 1907, que ilustra la conciliación del elementarismo geométrico de la arquitectura anónima con la vigorosa yuxta-posición monumental.
