Description
Rod Cook (American, 1947- ) was born and grew up in Savannah, Georgia. He first picked up a camera while a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, fell in love with the medium, and subsequently worked as a fashion and illustration photographer in New York for the first twenty-five years of his career. In 1997, he essentially gave up commercial photography to pursue a personal vision, and shortly thereafter produced “Cypress Knees and Tupelos,”an ongoing portfolio of nudes created in the cypress swamps located in and around Savannah. He works primarily in projects which are born from spontaneous experimentation and ultimately interprets the work in the platinum/palladium process. In 1998, he discovered a new body of work abbreviated as “FP” which consists of his unique interpretation of botanicals. Most recently, he has been photographing “Animate Objects” and “Moving Landscapes
